Notice of Public Comment

The City has issued a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance (MDNS) for the application the City received to construct a 92,000sf church with 2,000-person sanctuary, 7,500sf gym, and a 30 classroom school on the 19.19 acre site located at 1707 23rd Avenue (Pierce County parcel no. 0420043007). You are invited to provide any comments you may have on this proposal and MDNS to Brittany Port at bport@cityofmilton.net by 5:00pm on November 9, 2020, which the City may take into consideration in modifying this MDNS. A copy of the MDNS the City has issued, as well as a SEPA checklist, the most recent site plan, and copies of other reports and/or documents associated with this MDNS are provided on the Planning Department section of our website.

Appeals of this determination will be accepted until November 23, 2020 at 5:00pm. Appeals of this determination must be made in writing, with payment of the applicable fee. Should an appeal be filed, a public hearing on the appeal will be combined with the public hearing on the underlying permits (Site Plan Approval, CUP), which is tentatively scheduled to occur in early January, 2021.

Planning Commission Vacancy

The City of Milton’s Planning Commission has a vacancy for Position #4.  The Planning Commission meets the first Monday of the month from 4-6PM.  Please complete the Application for Public Service if you are interested in this position.  Applications are due by 5pm on Monday, November 30th.  Thank you!

Public Notice of Public Hearing

 The Milton City Council will hold a second public hearing on Monday, December 7, 2020 to review and discuss the preliminary 2021 budget.  Comments may be presented in writing to Trisha Summers at tsummers@cityofmilton.net or to 1000 Laurel St, Milton, WA 98354 prior to noon on December 7, 2020. Regular council meeting will follow.

Public Notice of Meeting Change

The Milton City Council passed Ordinance 1992-20 on September 8, 2020, allowing a temporary meeting start time of 6:30PM during the Governor’s Emergency Order No. 20-28 and all extensions of the order. This new start time will go into effect on Monday, September 21, 2020.

During virtual Regular City Council meetings (1st and 3rd Monday of each month), public comment can be taken one of two ways:

  • Participants may submit written comments to tsummers@cityofmilton.net. Written comments must be received prior to 12:00pm on the day of the regularly scheduled Council meeting. Written comment will be distributed to City Council and noted in the meeting minutes. OR
  • To speak during the public comment portion of the meeting, please call (253-517-2705) or email  the City Clerk by 5pm the day of the meeting to sign up. Please join the virtual meeting at 6:30, as public comment is at the beginning of the meeting. Council agenda and Zoom information can be found in the council packet (which are posted the prior Thursday evening) or on our City calendar.

Events Committee Vacancies

The City of Milton is seeking applicants for vacancies on the City Events Committee.  If you are interested in serving your community in this advisory capacity, we encourage you to apply. The Events Committee meets on the 2nd and 4th Tuesday evenings at 6pm.  Please complete the Application for Public Service if you are interested in this position.
