Notice of Public Comment

The City has issued a Mitigated Determination of Non-Significance (MDNS) for the application the City received to construct a 92,000sf church with 2,000-person sanctuary, 7,500sf gym, and a 30 classroom school on the 19.19 acre site located at 1707 23rd Avenue (Pierce County parcel no. 0420043007). You are invited too provide any comments you may have on this proposal and MDNS to Brittany Port via email up to the date of the public hearing. The public hearing is tentatively scheduled to occur in early January, 2021. A copy of the MDNS the City has issued as well as a SEPA checklist, the most recent site plan, and copies of other reports and/or documents associated with this MDNS are provided on the Land Use Notices page, project number 2019-007.

Public Notice of Meeting Change

The Milton City Council passed Ordinance 1992-20 on September 8, 2020, allowing a temporary meeting start time of 6:30PM during the Governor's Emergency Order No. 20-28 and all extensions of the order. This new start time will go into effect on Monday, September 21, 2020.

During virtual Regular City Council meetings (1st and 3rd Monday of each month), public comment can be taken one of two ways:

  • Participants may submit written comments by email to Trisha. Written comments must be received prior to 12:0PM on the day of the regularly scheduled Council meeting. Written comment will be distributed to City Council and noted in the meeting minutes OR
  • To speak during the public comment portion of the meeting, please call (253) 517-2705 or email the City Clerk by 5:00PM the day of the meeting to sign up. Please join the virtual meeting at 6:30PM, as public comment is at the beginning of the meeting. Council agenda and Zoom information can be found in the Council Packet.

Events Committee Openings

Are you looking for a way to get involved and have a passion for community events? We have 3 openings on our Events Committee. The Events Committee is tasked with planning and coordinating community events such as the annual Milton Days, Craft Bazaar and Tree Lighting. These events wouldn’t be possible without the members of the Events Committee!!

Planning Commission Opening

The seven-member Milton Planning Commission reviews staff proposals, holds public hearings and submits recommendations to the City Council on amendments to the Comprehensive Plan, development plans and area-wide zoning proposals and text amendments.

The Planning Commission consists of seven members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. The six-year terms terminate on the 31st day of May of the corresponding year. The Planning Commission has all the powers and duties specified by Chapter 35A.63 RCW, together with any other duties of authority conferred by the laws of the State, or by Milton’s Municipal Code.

The City of Milton’s Planning Commission has a vacancy for Position #4.  The Planning Commission meets the first Monday of the month from 4-6pm. To get involved, complete the Public Service Application.
