Park Board Meetings post Covid-19, Washington Ready:

The Park Board has resumed in-person meetings. To stay in compliance with DOH, L&I and the State of Washington, the following guidelines must be followed when attending an in-person meeting:

  • Masks are required for unvaccinated or partially vaccinated visitors to the Council Chambers. This is an honor system and we aren’t checking vaccination cards of the Park Board or those attending. Fully vaccinated is defined as two weeks after you have received the second dose in a two-dose series (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna) or two weeks after they have received a single-dose vaccine (Johnson and Johnson (J&J)/Janssen).
  • We ask that you self-screen prior to attending a meeting. Should you have any signs of Covid-19, please stay home.
  • We have installed air purifiers in the Council Chambers.

About the Board

The Park Board is composed of seven members appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council. Terms are for four years. The Board shall recommend general policies regarding development, operation, and maintenance of recreation areas and facilities. The Park Board adopts a proposed long-range program for the acquisition and improvement of recreation areas, and reviews at least every two years.

In 2018 Mayor Shanna Styron Sherrell tasked the Parks Board with a visioning plan for the parks. They were specifically asked to focus on 3 Milton parks: Milton Community (Triangle) Park, Hill Tower Park, and Olympic View Park. This plan should be a vision for the next 5 to 10 years and will describe measurable goals that can implemented within an overall theme. View 2019 Parks Board Visioning Plan.
